1. How many follow-up visits are needed after rhinoplasty surgery?
There should be at least 4 in the first year. Usually 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after rhinoplasty. The nose continues to heal even after 1 year so followups at one year and 18 months are also common .

Usually anywhere between 5-7 days.

Only the external stitches are removed and usually 5-7 days after surgery.

A light activity such as walking is allowed after 1 week, but running and weight lifting should be at least 4 weeks after.

The nose does not grow but over time, it can appear larger as we age and the tissues between cartilages loosen. We also lose bone density of the face so the nose appears larger.
6. What kind of material is used when grafts are needed to rebuild the nose?
Our own cartilage and bone are preferable but also synthetic grafts are used such as Gortex, medpore, and silicone.
7. What sort of surgeon is preferable?
One that is trained and board certified in general plastics, facial plastics or otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. These surgeons have done a residency and or have done a fellowship specifically to learn these techniques.
