An Interview With Dr. Patti Flint, MD , A Qualified Plastic Surgeon For Moms In Phoenix

1. What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is re-shaping of the nose.

2. What are the benefits of Rhinoplasty?

A patients nose can generally be re-shaped to remove humps, straighten the nose, or make it smaller.

3. Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

Someone who has certain features about their nose that bother him or her, and that can be surgically improved.

4. What are the risks associated with Rhinoplasty?

Bleeding and infection can occur with any surgery, but both are relatively rare. Revision rates can be higher with rhinoplasty than with other cosmetic procedures.

5. What does a Rhinoplasty procedure involve?

General anesthesia is usually required. A small incision is made on the under-surface of the nose between the nostrils. The cartilages and bones are re-shaped. Sutures and a splint are applied.

6. How long does it take to recover from rhinoplasty?

Bruising takes seven to ten days to resolve and an external splint is worn during this time. No lifting or exercise is allowed for three weeks. Generally, positive changes are visible within ten days, but improvements continue to occur for up to a year following the surgery.

7. How long can I expect the results to last?

The results will last permanently.
