1. How many follow-up visits are needed after rhinoplasty surgery?
This will vary depending on your surgeon. Typically, you will return in about 3 days to remove the sutures. You will go back in about a week to remove the cast. In two weeks, all dressings and nasal packings should be removed. From here, I like to see my patients one month, three months, six months and one year post-op.
2. When are the splints removed after rhinoplasty surgery?
Splints can be removed after about a week or less depending on the patient.
3. When are the stitches removed after rhinoplasty surgery?
Stitches will be removed in about 3 days.
4. When is it okay after rhinoplasty surgery to run or lift weights?
You should wait at least three weeks before you resume most normal activities. Any contact activities should be avoided for several weeks after that.
5. Is it possible for the nose to grow after rhinoplasty surgery?
Your nose will not grow. However, you will still continue to go through the normal aging process which could alter results a little bit.
6. What kind of material is used when grafts are needed to rebuild the nose?
It can vary widely but I prefer your own tissues, like cartilage.
7. What sort of surgeon is preferable?
You definitely want a board certified plastic surgeon and preferably one who specializes in Rhinoplasty.
