1. Is it true that the nose is more runny after rhinoplasty?
No. there may be some temporary congestion and drainage if the rhinoplasty included internal airway surgery. But if the rhinoplasty is only done for external appearance changes, there will be no congestion.
2. Does rhinoplasty leave scars?
No. If the rhinoplasty is done open , there will be a small scar on the strip of skin between the nostrils. But this heals so well it cannot be found later.
3. What type of anesthesia is required for rhinoplasty?
Most rhinoplasties are done with the patient asleep. While it is possible to do under local anesthesia with sedation, it is more comfortable with the patient asleep.
4. What is revision rhinoplasty?
Despite a plastic surgeon' s best efforts, some rhinoplasties need adjustment of irregularities or uneven areas later. The need for revision rhinoplasty is estimated to be around 10%.
5. What specifically can be achieved with rhinoplasty?
The external shape of the nose can be changed and the ability to breathe through one' s nose can be improved.
6. What can I expect during a rhinoplasty consultation?
An assessment of what can be realistically changed on one' s nose and computer imaging to show what the final result may look like.
7. How much time will i need to take off from work?
Most patients need not more than 7 to 10 days.
