The patient is seen the next day, 7-8 days after surgery, one month, three months, 6 months, and one year after surgery.

The splint is removed at the second visit after surgery (7-8 days).

Stitches are removed 7-8 days after rhinoplasty surgery.


4. When is it okay after rhinoplasty surgery to run or lift weights?

I recommend the patient does not engage in any strenuous activity for 4 weeks after surgery.


5. Is it possible for the nose to grow after rhinoplasty surgery?

No, if the surgery is done after facial growth is complete. For both men and women I recommend waiting until 18 years of age for rhinoplasty surgery.


6. What kind of material is used when grafts are needed to rebuild the nose?

The gold standard is patient' s own cartilage. However, synthetic material may be used as well. The options are silicone implant, Gortex implant, and Medpor implant.


7. What sort of surgeon is preferable?

I recommend a board certified plastic surgeon or board certified ENT surgeon with an interest in rhinoplasty. Obviously, before and after photos are critical to view. This will give the patient an idea of the style of nose the surgeon prefers. My goal is to make the nose balanced and natural looking.
