1. Is rhinoplasty ever covered by insurance?
If you can show difficulty with breathing, then insurance may cover a septoplasty (correcting the septum inside the nose) but any cosmetic changes to the shape of the nose may not be covered.
2. Where are the incisions made?
In an open rhinoplasty, the incision is made across the columella (the bridge of skin between the 2 nostrils) and in a closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are made within the nostrils.
3. Is it common to have black eyes after surgery?
Yes, because sometimes the nasal bones have to be repositioned and this causes bruising under the eyes.
4. Where is rhinoplasty usually performed?
In an outpatient setting such as an outpatient surgery center.
5. Is the patient asleep during the rhinoplasty surgery?
The patient is sedated and the nose is numbed with xylocaine/lidocaine.

7. Will I be able to drive myself home after my rhinoplasty procedure?
No. Because of the sedation, you may not have all of your faculties back soon enough to drive yourself home after the procedure.
